Decentralized Cross-Chain Protocol Wormhole Initiates Airdrop Inquiry

Wormhole airdrop

The cross-chain protocol Wormhole has commenced inquiries for an airdrop, offering its native token W. Approximately 6.17% (617,305,000) of W tokens will be disbursed, reaching 397,704 wallet addresses. Wormhole, a leading interoperability platform, facilitates multichain applications and bridges, serving as the backbone of Web3.

The cross-chain protocol Wormhole has commenced inquiries for an airdrop, offering its native token W. The total supply of W is set at 10 billion tokens, with an initial circulation of 1.8 billion. This distribution will encompass Ethereum, Solana, Arbitrum, Optimism, and Base networks. Approximately 6.17% (617,305,000) of W tokens will be disbursed, reaching 397,704 wallet addresses. Wormhole, a leading interoperability platform, facilitates multichain applications and bridges, serving as the backbone of Web3. Over 200 applications and more than 1 million unique wallets utilize Wormhole’s suite of open-source protocols to transfer various data types across 30 blockchains. Notably, Wormhole received unconditional approval from the Uniswap DAO as the exclusive cross-chain protocol, citing its security and decentralization practices.

The development of the Wormhole platform involves a decentralized network of teams dedicated to security, engineering, research, product development, and community growth. This includes Wormhole Foundation, Wormhole Labs, xLabs, Asymmetric Research, Wormhole China, Superteam, Lurk, Zpoken, and Succinct.

The protocol’s decentralization journey advances with the forthcoming W token airdrop, promoting widespread distribution among stakeholders. With a total supply of 10 billion tokens, 1.8 billion tokens will initially circulate across Ethereum and Solana networks. W token allocation comprises Guardian Nodes, Community & Launch, Core Contributors, Ecosystem & Incubation, Strategic Network Participants, and the Foundation Treasury, with 82% initially locked for gradual release over four years. W serves as a native Solana SPL token and ERC20 token, leveraging Wormhole’s Native Token Transfers framework for seamless multichain functionality.

The airdrop distribution includes tokens for on-chain activity within Wormhole ecosystem applications across 30+ connected blockchains, along with tokens for community users, including Discord members, NFT communities, Monad community, and top Pyth stakers. The initiative acknowledges the contributions of dedicated users and developers to Wormhole’s multichain ecosystem.

Eligibility for the W airdrop is based on user interaction within the Wormhole ecosystem, with priority given to prolonged engagement, message volume, and application participation. A snapshot of user activity was taken on February 6, 2024, encompassing nearly three years of data across various blockchain interactions and ecosystem applications.

The initiation of Wormhole DAO governance empowers W holders to shape protocol decisions through token-based governance and vote delegation. On-chain governance will facilitate community-driven initiatives, including blockchain connection adjustments and smart contract upgrades.
